I've asked around and found that the base timing from the factory can be
retarded as much as 3 degrees, the dealer can check and correct if necessary.
Also some of the quicker times in the mags are with the standard cab version
which probably weigh several hundred lbs less (?) than the CC. This along with
ambient conditions may account for the better times. I've also read that the
LS-1 engine has been found to run significantly better after 3K miles, maybe
our engines will do the same.
