If it is at the rear of the engine and it happens the way you said, then I
would think it is either an injector, or the distributor. Get a piece of
heater hose and put one end to the valve cover and the other to your ear and
see if you hear that noise. Do this on the oil pan too. When you put the
hose to the valve cover you can injector fire at the same time. Hope this
