Mike...
I gave up yesterday. Dropping it off at the dealer tomorrow. Fuel
pressure I found to be good, the computer checks fine etc... maybe the
o2 sensor but not sure. I cant afford to just start replacing stuff.
Truck runs real bad. wont pull any hills, I mean literally. I was stuck
the other day trying to get up a steep hill, let the clutch out and just
wouldnt take any fuel, choked out and stalled. It doesnt want to start
either, if I crank the key it wont happen, BUT if I just bump the key
for a second and get the crank to turn once it will fire up and idle???
confusing problem... Usually it is the fuel pump, perhaps you should
check your pressure, its a $10 easy check...
But sounds like you really have a spark problem, maybe try a new coil on
it, run some injector cleaner through you TBI and again check your fuel
pressure...

I have an 87 LE which had the same problems. Turned out to be a lot of
sludge/dirt in the gas tank. It was clogging the fuel lines and gas
filter. Under heavy pressure from the gas pump the filter would get so
clogged it wouldn,t be able to supply enough gas through the lines and
the truck would die.
The Dodge dealer replaced the distributor and that only helped for a
couple of days. Eventually I had to have the gas tank removed/cleaned,
and all the non-metal gas lines replaced. I also eventually did a carb
rebuild because the jets and bowl were so dirty.
Try to replace the fuel filter 3-4 times in a week. If that helps for a
period of time, and then goes back to the way it was, suspect gas
tank/fuel line sludge.
Good Luck!!
