Get a book on your engine and it will tell you how to do it as well as
the spec on how much of a gap there should be between the valve lifter
and valve. You need a special tool. I forget what they call it but it is
just a piece of sheet metal in the shape of 1/2 lolley pop stick that is
a specific thickness.

Can someone tell me how to check the valve lash? Is this something I
can do or is special tools needed?
