>>Hey all,
>> Just got the latest issue of Power Wagon & Sport Ute
>>Issue #6 summer 1998. They do drag tests on the 98 R/T Club Cab.
>>They did 6 runs the best being 14.73 @91.59mph (this was with the
>>air box completely removed sucking hot engine air and the stock tires
>>at 18 psi). The first run was during the day and it ran 15.37 @ 89.26.
>>The fastest run was with the air box removed, lower tire pressure and
>>at night in the cooler air. They also said:
>>
>>"Only 2,000 Dakota R/Ts were built in 1998, and Dodge plans to double
>> production of the 5.9-liter (360) Magnum V8 powered trucks in 1999.
>> After that a variation of the new 4.7-liter SOHC V8 that replaces the
>> 5.2 Magnum will be used. So you would own a bit of history." They
>> also talk about the 99 Grand Cherokees new 4.7-Liter engine "It
>> produces (the 4.7-liter) 235 HP and 230 lb-ft of torque compared to
>> the old 5.2-liter magnum's 220hp and 300 lb-ft of torque"
>>
>>Now there talking about the 5.2 in the Cherokee but the Dakota's 5.2
>>already made 230hp & 300 lb-ft of torque. It seems as though the
>>new 4.7 liter engine is a little light on the torque wouldn't
>>you say. A 70 lb-ft. loss if you believe this article. It also
>>didn't give rpm measurements for the 4.7 makes you wonder if they
>>didn't raise that rpm to get that 235hp.
>>
>>Better get one now while they still have the 360.
>>
>>Mike Catlin

I think that they got the wrong numbers on the torque rating. Everywhere
else I hasve read about the 4.7l I have seen 300 lb-ft.
