I had some light scratches on the bed rails that I inflicted with a garden
hose. I used an aerosol polish used for windshields on motorcycles. It
worked very well, and after buffing I could look from any angle without
seeing where the scratches were. The brand I used was Slipstreamer
Windshield Polish. Granted, these were light scratches, but it's worth a
try.
It also works wonders for helmet visors. I'm using the same visor on an Arai
Signet I bought in '93, and there are no visible scratches on it.
