For what it's worth, using silicone & gasket material is wretched excess.
Copper RTV is meant to be a gasket MAKER, not a gasket sealer. You use it
in lieu of a gasket, not in addition to. Most Autozones carry copper based
spray on gasket sealer which should be plenty of seal if the gaskets are
good.
I'm sure the "more is always better" retentives will disagree.
Of course you will need some RTV for the flange that bolts up to the Y pipe.
