Question is - what modifications can be made to this guy?

I have a '98 Club Cab R/T as well (
http://www.mindspring.com/~hemi/jbd1.html ) and we just got thru with our
JBA header group purchase . We got the Stainless Steel ceramic coated
headers for $392.85 , and that included shipping .
They are "shorty" style headers that bolt to the factory downpipes . JBA
has told us that they are making a matching Mandrel bent set of downpipes
for the R/T as well and we will be doing another group purchase from them
in January most likely . I got mine a couple of days ago and I am going to
do the install today (hopefully) .

We are also in the midst of a group buy of JET modules that we can get for
$209 (stage II) . JET makes a module specifically for the R/T . I am going
to do the install on this today as well (if time permits) . JET told me
that I would see an additional 24HP from the module on the R/T , but some
on the list have mixed results .

When and if you change the module (or even if you don't) most people go to
a 180 degree thermostat . Mixed results here as well , but it's a cheap mod .

Might wanna try an FABM in 14" fashion as well . Check the DML home page
for the details on that one . I think some say about 18HP on this one . K&N
is coming out with a custom setup that is supposed to draw cool air for the
97+ Dakota , so I'll wait and see .

I am looking to try and get an electric fan from a Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9
Limited as that is the only Chrysler vehicle to use the electric fan with
the 5.9 .

I am also waiting on a set of custom underdrive pulleys to be developed .
Waiting on MARCH , but a DML member (Patrick) may be making a set on his
own . I think he does custom aluminum fabrication or something .

One of the biggest gains from what I have heard is by doing some Throttle
Body mods . You can either pay someone else to do it , or just do it
yourself for alot cheaper . Many members can give you some ideas .

I know that Bruce Bridges has been working on a group purchase for a shift
kit for the 518 tranny (a 46RE in our R/Ts) and he has an R/T as well .

All in all , there are alot of things that you can do to the truck , it's
just that the way they have to be doen , that if you are in an area that
has emmisions laws , then you have to do them in a certain way and be
willing to spend a little dough for the biggest gains .

BTW - It would be great if you could register your truck with the Dakota
R/T Registry that Tim May has set up ! You can find it at
http://www.DakotaRT.com

You can also see a link to my pics of my truck there or just go directly
there at http://www.mindspring.com/~hemi/jbd1.html

Good luck !!

Better seats for the awesome handling of the R/T?

I would love to see this myself , as this is one thing that the magazines
have all agreed on , as well as myself . Ther is like NO lower back support
on the factory seats .
