I don't know anything about flowmaster, but I can answer your Gibson
question. You replace everything from the muffler back. So, you get
a different muffler, and 3" tubing out to the back of the truck. (And
a 4" chrome tip.) Also, the tubing is mandrel bent.
As far as I know, the highest performing muffler is no muffler at all. :-)
Depends on your engine setup, I guess. Sticking with mufflers, from what
I've read, the best HP gains will be realized with a true dual exhaust and
an H pipe. (2 mufflers)
For the power difference though, sometimes its just easier/more practical/
more economical to go with a simple bolt-in.
