re: any gains in electrical mods ?

Jack,

Since it is hard enough for me to find the time to work on my truck (much
less get to the track to test before/after modifications) all my impressions
are SOP inspired. As the K&N and the ignition system upgrades went in w/in a
month of each other - its tough to say which provided the greater gain. The
K&N definately gave the Dak a throatier sound, taking me back to the days
when my Dak was brand new and would REALLY cook. I've also noticed a quicker
throttle response (K&N or ignition? I can't say). I imagine that like a lot
on the list, not all modifications are for purely performance reasons.
Whenever a part is worn or ready for replacement, I try to find a higher
quality replacement then OEM. (ie: MSD wires versus stock.)
I tend to take my Dak into alot of stuff most others (especially the sport
trucksters) wouldn't go near, and figure the higher quality the parts the
less likely something will break, leaving me stranded in the boonies with no
help nearby. Primarily a peace of mind thing, but if I can get a little
extra performance in the process - then all the better.

(I've actually got some performance problems/questions for the list - but
I'll put those in a separate post so they don't get lost in the flames!)

I remember a heated discussion a few months back in which it was determined
by more than a few that they actually saw a LOSS in performance when they
switched to a "performance" ignition system .
