Yes and no.
You can up the pump pressure by increasing the spring pressure on the PR
valve.
This will give you higher shift points and also firm them up a little (
very little ).
Also if you go this route and the shift points are to high you can then
start backing off the kick down cable a little at a time till you get
the
feel that you want. you are not going to get much of a difference with
out
enlarging some feed holes in the plate though, but it is worth a try.
To adjust the TV cable you will see an off white clip that has a letter
T
on it, this is the clip that you need to remove to adjust the cable. It
just pulls off but you have to be careful not to loose it or break it,
some
times it wants to go flying around when taking it off. Just pull up on
the
top of it with your finger and it should come off.
Be sure and look at where it is adjusted before taking the clip off
though,
Open the throttle wide open with the cable disconnected and see if it
will
be able to be pulled open more than it is ( kind of hard to explain ). I
would start by adjusting the cable so at WOT you can not pull on it any
more ( all the way applied ). You do this by pulling the cable back
towards
the firewall. You will see what I mean when you start messing around
with
it. I would try this before doing anything else.
Applying the TV more you will get later shifts while doing the opposite
to
the cable lets it shift sooner.

Thanks, I knew there had to be a way to adjust that damn tv cable. I
saw the clip, but didn't mess with it. The dealer says it has an
internal problem, but it shifts too firm manually to be bleeding off.
I've lots of experience with th-400 and powerglides in our race car, but
they don't have tv cables...so I've never messed with em. I'll give
that a try after dinner!
