Jim,
The Vortech's are very noisy around and just above idle, it has to do with
the straight cut gears and the harmonics between the gears and the
compressor wheel.
The Paxton units are generally quieter (ball drive vs. straight cut gears),
but they are still noisy and I haven't heard the NOVI but I would bet it
would be noisy also.
Turbo's generally are very quiet but I haven't found any kits for the Magnum
engines. One could be fabricated but then you would need to deal with
emissions
testing. At this time, nobody that I know of makes an emissions approved
Roots type kit. The only option if want a quiet supercharger would be the
Kenne Bell kits
(screw type compressor). Even with the hood up, you can't hear the
supercharger. The drawback with these kits is the cost, they generally run
about $1,000.00
more than the Vortech kits. Hope this helps.
