You are by no means alone, if it makes you feel any better.

The paint on my 1993 electric blue Dakota has always rubbed off a little too
easily.

In fact, there was a patch similar to a 10" or so diameter circle on the
rear passengers side of my cargo box that was discoloring and beginning to
peel within a few months after I bought the truck, even though I waxed it
every month or two and took very good care of the truck overall. As it
turned out, some XXX rammed a heavily-loaded shopping cart into that side of
the cargo box, leaving a rather noticeable dent. After the repair and paint
job, there was no more discoloration or peeling.

In 1996, I was hearing dozens of complaints from Ram owners on the Mopar
Mailing List about the paint on their trucks, very similar to what you are
saying, only their paint was peeling off within weeks or months of driving
away from the dealership!

I would say that you have done well, though, to have gotten Chrysler to pay
half the cost of the paint job. I congratulate you.
