I used one piece of fairly thick aluminum for the base plate and took a
larger sheet of aluminum, bent it to shape, and pop riveted it. The next
version will have to lose about a 1/4 inch. The screws that hold the top
half of the box (to get to the K&N) have worked through the thin hood
lining.
