To add fuel to the fire...my 1997 RC 2wd V-8 Auto 3.55 SG Dakota with
minimal modifications (aerochamber muffler, MSD Wires, 10" FABM, Leer
Classic 4000 tonneau cover) gets 18 MPG in daily driving which consists of
a good mix of short and medium length trips, stoplight altercations and
tire durability tests ; - ) I don't think it's ever dropped below 14 MPG in
any driving situation. I did notice that mileage has improved somewhat
over time (2-3 MPG), I'm not sure whether that's attributable to the
modifications, engine break in or a combination. My best MPG was a little
over 19.5 with primary highway driving at just s l i g h t l y over the
posted limits.
