My '97 5-spd doesn't have functional reverse lights either, I investigated
the possibility of bad bulbs and struck out. It's probably
a bad reverse light switch on the tranny. The typically are cheap plastics
thing. I haven't had time to drop off my truck to the dealer
for such a small problem. I'll probably just buy a new switch and install
it myself after work.
