If it were the rad cap, wouldn't there be fluid near the rad cap itself? There isn't. Where is the water pump? (I'm not exactly mechanical.) What is the "tell tale"? Some
engine thing by Edgar Allen Poe?Thanks for the info,
Robert

May not be fluid near the rad cap because the heat from the radiator will evaporate it. Water pump is directly behind the fan (notice the hoses going to it?) and driven by the same pulley. The 'tell tale' is a small hole in the housing of the WP which will weep antifreeze as a sign that your WP is at the end of it's life. The fan can blow this all over the place.
Suggest you take your truck back to whoever changed the thermostat and ask for a pressure test...it takes only a couple of minutes. They replace the rad cap with a little air pump and pressurize the cooling system (I don't recommend Shaun's method). If the pressure drops, you have a leak ... then all they need to do is find it. It it doesn't drop, the problem is your rad cap....replace it.
The last thing you want to do is overheat your truck...that can lead to expensive repairs.
