There are plenty of cams but none of the good ones are smog legal and who
knows if they will even work. Are the misfire sensors the same as GMs know
sensors? If so there are ways to desensitise them.

The LT1 in the SS Impalla has iron heads and still has the high compression
ratio. GM dealt with it via reverse flow cooling and a knock sensor. Or
more to the point, they created new technology rather than beating the old
design to death.

I hear you. But I think at this stage in the game they need a whole
redesign to keep up with the competition. BTW, somebody mentioned the the
360 is a truck motor. Chevy is taking the LS1 and making truck version.
Switching from truck to car versions doesn't have to be a big deal. Longer
duration/higher lift cam will do it in most cases.
