Brad,
Sure we can. Here is where we are at. The Stage I is for all practical
purposes complete. Modifications are; disassembly, cleaning, throttle bores
opened up (step bored), air horns opened up, new stainless steel shaft,
factory size plates, assembly, and one way shipping. The price will be
$90.00 each with a usable core returned. The net result of the modifications
is a 13 percent increase in airflow over stock. The increase in airflow
occurs with throttle positions greater then 15% so bottom end torque is
un-effected. The TB's look very similar to the pics that Bruce posted
earlier. The TB's have been tested on both 318's and 360's with excellent
results. We will be testing the TB's with the air horns removed this week to
see what the effects are. I will be flowing two this weekend with the
thought that better
results can be had with these given the air cleaner arrangement that the
Dakotas have. I personally don't think that the removal of the air horns
will be beneficial in the
case where air can be directed straight down the TB (air cleaner assemblies
on the Ram), but we will find out. The 13% increase occurred with air being
directed
straight down to the TB. If it turns out that the removal of the air horns
is beneficial, then that modification will be incorporated in the Stage I
for no additional cost.
Stage II, we are still working on it, and I must say it has been frustrating
(the computer keeps messing things up). I have performed more dyno pulls on
my truck over
the last couple of weeks than I care to count. We have measured everything
(fuel/air, ignition, injector duration, fuel pressure, MAP sensor, Jet chip
installed, Jet chip
removed, etc., etc., etc., etc.). We are making progress, but at times it
seems painfully slow. We will get the Stage II right, but for those who want
it, it will require
additional modifications. Right now, the Stage I makes the most sense for
almost all. We will be able to modify the Stage I to a Stage II in the
future (I still need to
figure out the cost). Since I am really lousy at keeping track of things,
Bruce Bridges has volunteered to keep a list and assemble these, so send him
a post with
info about your truck and we will get it done. If you would like to keep
your TB or just want a new TB that has been modified, below is a list of all
TB's for the Magnum engines and the costs of each. After the flow work this
weekend, I will post the results and let you decide whether or not you want
the top of the TB milled.
I do have cores for exchange, but one of the nice things about the new TB's
is that you get a new IAC and TPS with it (no MAP). Hopefully, over the next
week we will
have additional info on the big bore TB......
