In my opinion the greatest upgrade you can make to a system is the speakers,
most people will tell you the more power you have the better the sound, this
is untrue. Clean is the key, low distortion amps, preamp level outputs on
your head unit, very high quality speakers with a high power rating and high
spl ratings. I Have componant systems in all my cars, it cost a little more
but it is with it. Polk Audio, Rockford, Soundstream, and JL Audio are
excellent choices in speakers. In my uh-ummmm Blazer, I run only 35w per
channel on my separates 6.5" mids and 1" highs the front and 5.25 and 1"
highs in the rear(Polk Audio)and 100w to the two 8" subs (Rockford Punch).
The entire system is powered with a single little SoundStream multi-channel
amp. This system will crank it up with the best of the 1000w amature
systems out there, the trick is only about .005% thd.

I have decided to upgrade my stereo. It is completly stock now. I ordered a
pair of those Aura Bass Shakers. I also want to get some new speakers, front
and rear. Whats the biggest i can get in either hole. Crutchfield says only
a
bottom mount 5 1/4 will fit in the rear and a 6 1/2 up front. Can i go any
bigger. I dont have the money to get a new headunit (one I want is $500,
ouch)
, but i will need to get an amplifier to power the bass shakers (EACH SHAKER
IS 5.4" W x 2.2"H, CONTINUOUS POWER IS 25 WATTS RMS AND EFFECTIVE IMPEDANCE
IS
4 OHMS). What kinda wattage should the amp be? Can I connect the front and
rear speakers to the amp? Will this all hook up to my stock headunit?
Well thats enough questions for today,
