Jon,
We are looking at a Ram diff, shortened to the '95 Dak width and a custom
one piece Driveshaft. Shouldnt be more than a couple of bills to get that
done locally. Wait, a new vision,
I can see it now... The haze is clearing... Tubbed bed with M/T Flintstone
rollers tucked into the wheel wells, centerline skinnys up front, 426 crate
motor cacaphony from under the hood...Open headers blasting the asphalt
behind the front wheels... Its fading... the vision is getting
blurry...Please insert another quarter...
damn...

   Sam,

  Is that a diff out of a newer Dak? (i.e. R/T, 98, 99, etc...)
I'd like to upgrade my rearend someday too; I'll be looking forward
to hearing how you make out with the diff. So far, I haven't been
able to find any concrete answers about what is involved in that swap.
My concerns are width and length. I think the newer Daks have a wider
wheelbase, and also the 9.25 is longer than the 8.25. I suppose width
wouldn't be *too* big of a deal, it might make the tires stick out
more... The length I'm a little more worried about. Might need
a custom driveshaft... ? Speaking of which, what are your plans with
the driveshaft; just having one custom made?
