I have towed a couple small U-haul trailer (single axle)
with the stock bumper, and it was fine. Problem with the
bumper isn't the bumper itself, but the brackets. They're
pretty weak.

I went to Pep Boys and picked up a Class III hitch (rated to
500/5000#), for $75.00...all mounting hardware included. Spent
1 hour install it at a friends house (my ramps, his mongo drill).
Now I can tow his 4500# boat, anything I really want to tow,
and now worry about overloading my bumper.

Costs- $75.00 hitch (+tax), $7.25 dinner (Robertos Taco Shop),
$7.50 12 pack Coors Light (Plus CRV+Tax), got a free 2" ball/receiver
from my friend (he has to use a 4" drop now, so I got
his 2") ~ $35.00 to buy it ~, and a great time installing it...
Total cost= About $130 bucks give or take.

It's worth it.
