  Sounds like the Mitsu 2.0 did not have a bypass valve, and the filters
in question didn't either. That sounds more like a filter incompatiblity
problem than a fundamental filter problem (was the filter in question one
of those Double Guard things?). You should always have a bypass in your
oiling system.

  But then again, do you want your filter to be so restrictive that the
bypass valve is open all the time? You do need to balance filtering with
flow efficiency.
