They are they same thing for the most part. A casting is a bare head.
Sometimes the word "heads" can mean either a complete head or a bare one.
To complete the head, you need valves, valvesprings, keepers (valve stem
locks), valve spring retainers, and some sort of rocker arm setup.

Heads plus all that stuff(minus porting and rockers) should cost about $400
(for 2 heads)I would think.
