I support my "flog it from mile one" by the following: A post to the dml
stated that the guy got a tour of the Viper assembly plant. Asking about
break-in and Mobil 1, the engineer said don't worry about useing
synthetics during break-in, then went on to say every Viper motor was
Dyno tested before installation. Every Dyno test I've seen, at the
crank, went the full rpm range of the motor. All the way to red line.
Now consider the break-in while in your truck. Could you possibly run it
harder than a loaded Dyno? I think not. Also, my Brother bought a Z-28
new in '95, he picked me up at OK City airport with about 50mi on the
clock. He let me drive it to his house, flog, flog, flog right up to 140
on the hwy, and numerous burnouts around town. Driven this way since day
one, at 60,000 mi, not so much as a puff of smoke at start up and
running as strong as ever. Anyway, this is my opinion, I don't expect
everyone (or anyone) to adopt my radical viewpoints, but in this case,
if they did, they wouldn't be takeing any life off their new motor.IMHO.

is no benefit to babying a motor for any length of time, it hurts it
more to drive it one rpm range all the time, at least vary the rpm, a
little city, a little hwy, a lot of kickin it's *ss. That's my way, and
just my opinion. Alan S. >>
Close to my method but I believe 300 miles gives it time to wear the edges off
thing then hammer it. I had a guy (service tech for Suzuki ) that drag racing
it from the git go would probably break it in better than anything. He said
the constant RPM at any range is not good and that parts heating up (more on
braek in) was bad. Drag racing or similar would vary the RPM and allow things
to heat up and cool down and was a excellent method for break in. He did say
not to get on the breaks to hard on slow down to give them a chance to seat
in. ??????????????????? Worked for me.
