Speaking of remote start, does anyone have one on a vehicle with a
manual tranny? Seems like someone I knew checked on this once, and
none of the installers wanted to touch that particular project.
(Liability concerns maybe?)
I don't see why it wouldn't work. You'd just have to remember to
leave the truck in neutral, with the parking brake on. You'd
also need a switch or something to disable the feature that doesn't
allow the engine to start unless the clutch pedal is in. The latter
is probably pretty simple to bypass, and you could either leave it
bypassed all the time, or put a switch on the dash.
Anyone ever done this?
And on a related note, has anyone ever made a do-it-ur-self remote
starter? What does it take to start the engine? (Supply a positive
or ground to the starter for X seconds?) I suppose it would be
easier to buy an alarm or remote starter that has the starter circutry
for an auto and just hack it up to make it work on the manual...
