Interesting question. I avoided that possibility by not ordering
anti-lock. Most wheelers "gear down" to avoid using the brakes.In low
range first gear, my truck will creep down a 30% grade and I never
have to touch the brake pedal.

Hate to pop your 'anti-lock bubble', but 2 wheel ABS was standard in 97.
But I came to the same conclusions as you did about 4 wheel ABS.
