What is R&R?

Here is my dumb question for the week...What is R&R? It has something to do
with the TB i know...something about removing carbon buildup? On my invoice
from the dealer, it says "R&R AIS Motor" and it shows that the AIS motor is
a failed part (Part number 53030657AB). Could it be because of carbon
buildup, and why would carbon be building up all of a sudden?
