I would probably try adding another intake tube into the round outer
casing, or just change the casing to a open element filter. Remember that
the air in the engine bay is hotter so you would be better with cold air
comming from the front I'll bet. But, an open element filter would be
good too. You could maybe get a new filter housing , like an edelbrock
one at the parts store and use the old filter.
