<< I just bought a 99 Dakota Ext. 4x4, with a 3.9L Auto. I took off the
factory 235-75-15's, I tryed put a set 33x12.5x15's but as I expected
there a bit too big. Rubbing the frame when cutting the wheel hard, due
to width. But seem to have enough room around the wheelwells.
What I'm wondering is how large of a tire will fit without any changes,
and how they will effect milage/perforance. I'm doing a fair bit of
highway driving and my milage is in the 14 mpg range. I'm asuming this
is due to the tires? What do you suggest?

That is a decent increase in tire size, going from 28.5 inches to 32.5 inches.
You mentioned that the 33x12.50 was too wide.....have you tried out an odd
size 33, like a 33x10.50, 33x11.50 or 33x9.50? Since the 235's are about 9.5
inches wide, these might be better. Still amazed how you fit those without a
lift, but then again 99's are alot different than my 93.
