It depends on the test.

At idle and low rpm I don't think It'll make a difference. It depends more
on your cam. Most blower/turbo cams have less overlap and therefore should
be cleaner.

Here is California you won't be able to get away with it. Since they do a
visual inspection and do the test on a dyno to simulate load.

Of course there are ways around that....
