I have a 97/2wd/v6/auto/some mods and so I don't drive off road much
because it is a 2wd, but I do drive a lot of gravel roads living out in
the country. I turn off my overdrive when pulling a load around or
larger than 4,000lb example horse trainlers or a load large enought that
I'm not going to go fast and need to keep things slower just for safty
sake. That is about 20% of the time.
Another 2% of the time is when I'm in the city and want to hear and have
everyone else hear my cat-back system as I slow down to the light or
stop sign, that way people can hear me coming and going.

Subject: DML: Do you turn off overdrive for "city" driving?

I wonder what fraction of Dakota drivers turn off overdrive in city
driving
(or just driving
under 50 mph). (I know i won't know the "fraction" by asking on this
group, but....). I find it's
alot easier to drive in "city" conditions with OD off mainly because
less
braking is required (the truck
slows down faster). Anyone else think that's a good reason to turn off
OD? (I don't find hunting to be much
of a problem though).
