I find it hard to believe that a slow charger drawing only 200 mA would
melt. Possible that you have a different charger that draws significantly
more power (rapid charge?) I can't see a problem. I leave mine plugged
into the outlet all the time (don't always have the phone in) and even
after 6 hours of continuous on, it isn't even warm.
The on off switch would be a nice touch though. The other think you could
do is put it on a small 5 Amp or less fuse. 5 is the smallest I've seen,
but if there's a 1 Amp job out there that should do the trick.
