Sure... Take a look at the Baja 500, Baja 1000, or the Dakar rallies;
those 2wd buggies usually do pretty good! (Although I've seen 'em get
stuck in the sand...) :-) I think that as long as you stick to relatively
dry, hard stuff, a 2wd Dak would do pretty well offroad.
