I'm not sure on specifics, but I believe the +3 is just improved over +2...
possilby semi-synthetic... my '98 Ram calls for ATF+3... I have never
heard of a problem using ATF +3 where +2 was called for... I've heard if
you're doing the shift kit, you need a whole case... more fluid will come
out when you remove the valve body, and you will need about 11 quarts to
re-fill (for a 46RE, anyway). I used Valvoline 7176+3 fluid in my tranny,
but Mobil 1 Dextron III fluid in the transfer case.
