Secure you mean make it thief-proof?? If this is what you mean I would suggest
a setup similar to what I have. I am using a very thick guage steel cable that
is rubber/plastic coated, I think Kryptonite makes it. This cable is about
1/2" thick and has loops at each end. I run this cable through my spare and up
through a bed support rail and then back down the tire. I lock it with a
MasterLock weatherproof rubber coated lock. No problems yet after 4 1/2 years;
not even rust. I think the cable was $20 and the lock was under $10.
