To all that complained about the fuel economy of daks;
This month's Popular Mechanics mentioned a TSB(03-02-98)
that says that using 75W90 lube for 8.25 and 9.25 in. differentials
in 98 Dodge and Jeep trucks made them more "fuel-thrifty". A switch
to synthetic gear oil at this time wouldn't hurt either. What about trucks
before 98's??? My guess is that it would work for us too.
In another article, long life coolant may cause water pump problems
on 5.9 Dodge V8's. If the 5.2's (3.9??) have the same water pump, could
be a problem too. The article specified Prestone but I'm sure it would
be the same for Dex-cool. These are the new red coolants that are
supposed to last 5 yrs/100,000 miles.
