The fender splash shields on my 98 are the same way. You can see the engine
while looking about the tire. Nothing our of the ordinary here. I'm not
worried about any extentions as it also helps let air out to keep the engine
compartment cooler. The shield that is on the truck has cutouts that let the
brake lines through to the spindles.

I have a 99 Dak also that happened to be the first Special Order for a 99
Dak 4X4 SLT+ that doesn't fit the criteria of a off the shelf Dealer ready
to sell Vehicle, It is totally unique... In any event the Splash Guards on
the 4X4s do not completely cover the opening an extension is required that
can be obtained at the time of delivery by the Dealers initial Pre-Delivery
Claimant charged to the Manufacture....

How far down is it supposed to cover??? Damn I need pictures :)
