$75 sound a little high to just replace a muffler with a straight pipe. Unless
you like REALLY LOUD, I'd go with any of the "straight through" mufflers. They
will still sound tough without being harsh. You should get a boost, especially
in the top end. You may be able to recover some of your cost if he wants to
buy your original muffler; the newer ones are stainless steel and are pretty
good mufflers.
