RE: Popping the hood..

Sounds like the cable from the interior hood release has come loose....
first thing to check is where it connects to the release inside the truck.
If that is fine and there is tension on the release, then it's the
under-hood latch that has gone south (or where the cable connects there..)
I had this happen on my Dad's GMC.... We had to crawl underneath and use a
long rod to manually trip the latch (about an hour and a half of trying).
THen we reconnected the cable to the latch...
