I used to run a big setup in my 90 dak. I had a galaxy 44 with
modulator plus, TX 800 capped out, 2gauge wire etc. I had a 102" steel
whip on top of a 34" bracket mounted to my bed floor... overall, about
14' from ground to tip. I hit many red lights and some power lines.
Anyways, I could talk to anyone within 50 miles or so, with a skip,
almost anywhere.
After the whip, I had a coiled valor... excellent antenae.
Now I have a 98 with a bed cover and have a magnetic Lil' wil... best
small magnet mount to get.. much better than a K-40. The lil' wil
handles more power than a big K-40
