I'll take a stab at this =)

I have an 88 also, and it was struuuuugglin'... did everything yours is
doin', and one day it even stalled when I went to put tha' spank down.
Here's what the problem was (may not necessarily apply, but read on): My
t-stat had been stuck half open for quite awhile, and had been making my
truck run in a rich condition because it never left warm-up mode. This
caused me to have to replace the EGR and PCV. After I did these, the
stalling went away. Since you already did the EGR, try replacing the EGR.
The Haynes manual says that it's supposed to give you a code if the EGR
is dead, but mine didn't. You may wanna do the O2 sensor while your under
there. This worked for me =) ZGood luck!!!!!!
