Well, I searched the Chevy site and all I found was the following
information for both the ZR2 and XTreme favours:

Nothing about a V8....I personally think the dealer was pulling your leg.
the 327 hasn't been used for a long time...too bad...it's a screamer of an
engine. Either the 305 or 350 have been the choice...but for the
S-10...the biggest engine that they advertise is the Vortec-V6.
