Basically, if your battery is low, it could force your starter to crank
harder (running on lower current) which will put extra strain on the starter
and cause it to possibly fail. Then again, if your starter is going bad, you
may be cranking longer & therefore draining the battery, which if it is
already running low will just speed its decline.

Kinda the old chicken or egg question...

I always replace my battery when it starts to test low or show signs of
running down. I spend too much time hunting or generally out in B.F. nowhere
to have a battery die with no sign of help for miles. Plus running with a
fully charged batt. is alot easier on the other ignition components.
