As both a Dakota R/T owner and a Neon ACR owner I feel I have to
ad my 2 cents. NeonRT should be eliminated due to his lack of
respect for our list. But on the other hand I think that Dakota
owners should have a little respect for their brother mopar
enthusiasts. There is no way to compare the two. There are some
Neons out there that are pulling very respectable times and as
far as handling when I crank down the koni's on the ACR there is
not a lot of things on the road that can hang with it in the
curves. The R/T comes out of the whole like gang busters but
loses it breath at between 4 and 5 grand. This is just were the
Neon starts to wake up. My R/T if I stomp on it when I'm doing
90 there is nothing there. If I stomp on the Neon at that speed
it would definitely pull away from my R/T. My R/T will shutdown
at 117 mph my Neon will go to 130 mph. When the Neon first came
out there was a article in High Performance Mopar that compared
a Neon to a 68 Roadrunner with a 383, the power to weight ratio
was about the same. That was before they came out with a Dual
overhead cam 180hp engine. I use my two vehicles in different
ways. The neon is a fun car to drive back and forth to work. But
it doesn't turn heads. I use the R/T for cruising, and hell I
wouldn't race a 4 banger at the track even if it was quick. If I
really want to peg the butt dyno I just take my Challenger T/A
out for a romp. In fact I think I'll do that right now.
Now stepping down from my soapbox
