George, go ahead and put the mud flaps on with the flares. My 99 Dakota
came with the factory flares and I still wasn't satisfied so I installed
molded mud flaps like you have. The instructions that came with my mud
flaps had instruction for installation on a Dakota with flares.
Hope this helps

Subject: DML: Wheel Flares Vs Mud Flaps?

Hello,

When I bought my 98 DAK I bought the molded mud flaps to
protect the sides from chips. The trucks 2WD, but has been on more
dirt and gravel roads than 95% of the SUVs out there.

My wife likes the look of the Mopar wheel flares and will buy
me a set if I want them. So, two questions:

1. Can you use mud flaps and wheel flares at the same time?

2. Are the wheel flares better/worse than mud flaps when it comes to
protecting the trucks finish?

                                Regards,

                                George
