The Chrysler Connection by Max Powers (p.242) in the October issue
of Truckin' writes:

"If you want to get the most out of your Magnum engine,...
Rule #1 is to stay on top of the oil and filter change
intervals. The Magnums are set up with much tighter
tolerances than those found in old motors. This makes
the Magnums sensitive to lubrication breakdown. It only
takes about 3,000 miles for even the best oil to age pass
    its prime. ..."

This is the first time that I've an opinion like this ...
sensitive to lube breakdown ... 3,000 miles for best oil to pass
its prime ...

In the general sense, the opinion certainly isn't false but
does it have more significance to Magnums as he seems to imply?

And then the service manual has oil/oil filter changes at 12K.

Aargghh!
