I have a 180 Tstat in my v6. Run it all year here in NJ. It does take a bit
longer to warm in the Winter but other than that mine truck runs fine. I am
also still runnning the stock fan. The truck came with the 180 Tstat (lease
return)and it was used in South Carolina before it made it here to Jersey.

First off, I live up in Boston and have never had a problem with my 180 stat in
the winter. I head up to Vermont for hunting season and never had a problem up
there either.

Secondly, I don't understand why changing the stat. would make the engine warm
up slower or faster... The stat should be closed tight (any temp stat.) when
you first start the vehicle, so shouldn't they warm at the same rate? The only
difference is at peak operating temp., no?

Would somebody please enlighten me?

TIA
Tom
