if
you have the equipment yourself, or know someone). A clean, slightly rough
surface will allow paint to adhere the best. My recommendation is for a
type
of paint with is actually Cold Galvanizing Compound. It has a very high
zinc
content, and actually works much like regular hot-dip galvanizing. The
steel
will be metallurgically protected by the zinc, and small scratches in the
cold galvanizng will actually be self-healing. You can find this paint at
most welding shops, and it is not expensive. >>
How rough do I want to get the steel before painting it? Like do I want to
just go over it lightly a couple of times to get ride of the 'shinyness' or
'slipperyness' of the steel? Please explain how much I need to sand it. Will
a plam sander do? Or should I use a belt sander?
