Die Squeak, DIE

I checked out the serpentine belt figuring that was the source of the
squeak/squeal I am getting on start-up. The belt looks perfect. While it's
tough to tell with the engine running, it sounds like the squeak is coming from
the automatic tensioner.

You can see the springs of the tensioner through an opening in the housing.
Would I do any damage if I sprayed some WD-40 in there to try and kill the
squeak?

TIA!
Tom
